R2 assembly and storage case

The R2 assembly and storage case is where probes are loaded, transferred and stored. The machined aluminium base holds the R2 metal holder in a pocket, and the R2drive's base rests on the case lip, which aligns the drive: place the probe and fix it with a small drop of glue, with no third hand or vise needed. A connector basket on a swivelling steel rod holds the connector/EIB and sets the flex-cable tension. For surgery, the stereotactic adapter lies in the case on the blue rod support block, so the holder moves across with drive and probe still mounted. From the back, a removable transparent window gives access to the screws of R2rails, so probes can be attached and removed while the rail stays in the case. Closed with its transparent lid, the case keeps probes protected and can stand upright on a shelf between experiments.
